There are many web parts currently available for SharePoint and the number continues to grow. It can be difficult identifying those that could help support your SharePoint environment. In SharePoint 2003 User's Guide we reference several places where third party web parts could be leveraged to provide additional value to the solutions being provided through SharePoint.
This page lists several web parts that we have used and have found to be valuable in our SharePoint deployments.
DataLan Navigator - Being able to easily navigate through a SharePoint portal is an essential part
of making that portal effective. By default, SharePoint does not provide a consistent navigation tool that
spans across both SharePoint areas and WSS sites providing a consistent navigation structure regardless of your
location. The DataLan Navigator provides a consolidated hierarchy of all the areas and sites a person has access
to within the SharePoint environment. Features include:
- Present entire SPS area and WSS site hierarchy available to the current user
- Configurable tree caching to enhance performance by remembering the user's portal navigation structure
- Default tree expansion configurations

DataLan Grouped Subsites - There are many instances where it would be helpful to users if the subsites
within a SharePoint site could not only be listed, but grouped together in meaningful ways. (For example, having
project subsites grouped by Active, Completed or Pending.) The DataLan Grouped Subsites web part allow you to list
subsites within a current SharePoint site and group these sites based on information in SharePoint lists contained
in the subsites. Features include:
- Define a list and list column within the subsites by which to group.
- Define if the grouped lists should default to expanded or collapsed.

DataLan ListPrinter - SharePoint lists are great tools for storing and organizing information. You can create different
views into list information to satisfy a variety of different needs. Unfortunately if you try to print one of these
views you get all of the other SharePoint information as well, such as banners and side-bars. The DataLan ListPrinter
web part connects to any displayed list and and provides printing capabilities for that list view. This enables
SharePoint users to print a list and get just the list view being presented. Features include:
- Connect to any available list.
- Print the list view as it appears on the screen without printing other displayed elements.

DataLan QuickLaunch - The SharePoint Quick Launch tool lists all libraries and lists that have been configured for display
in Quick Launch. There are times when having these items just in the left hand quick launch area does not provide enough
of a visual cue people will not notice these items are available. The DataLan QuickLaunch web part allows quick launch
items to be listed anywhere within the SharePoint page. It also lets you configure how these items should be presented.
Features include:
- Identify which types of quick launch items should be included.
- Identify if items should be listed alphabetically or grouped by type.
- Identify the number of columns in which items should be organized.

Syntergy Bulkloader - A key aspect of a SharePoint environment is the information being managed within it. This information
consists of documents, images and list data. Getting initial information into SharePoint and loading other content
received on an ongoing basis can be cumbersome. The Syntergy Bulkloader provides the capabilities to load large
volumes of information into SharePoint. Features include:
- Load all types of documents, images, and list data
- Load users and groups
- Load document attributes

Syntergy Cut/Copy/Paste - When managing documents in SharePoint individuals expect to have the same capabilities
provided by Windows Explorer. The ability to cut, copy, and paste documents between folders is commonly used Windows Explorer
functionality. Syntergy Cut/Copy/Paste provides document cut, copy, and paste capabilities within the standard views of
SharePoint libraries. Features include:

My Sub Webs - When working in sites it is common to need a way to view all of the child or subsites located under
the site currently being viewed. The My Sub Webs allows you to provide a list of subsites within a current site. This list will
only contain those subsites that the logged on user has the rights to access.
